He knocked on my gate with force and rapid succession at 540 am when I was getting ready to go for my morning yoga. Claimed that he's Manoj Mishra and wanted some help as today is his father's death anniversary. From his appearance he looked like a drug addict. His clothes were badly stained in patches and after the small donation and taking his snap he made a very hasty retreat.
This typical urban boy from the slums visited the park where we do yoga. When asked why he doesn't go to school, he replied that his father takes 'hadia'- the local alcoholic beverage in the morning. One gentleman from among us suggested him to come with his mother tomorrow morning so that he can arrange for his studies. The boy replied in the negative saying that his mother goes to work at 6 am. He's holding some 'chuda' (parched rice ) in his hand which will be the food till his mother comes back from work.
God only knows the real future of this innocent but smart boy.
Senior tea group members Dr. D Mohanty & Dr. D B Das felicitate Dr. Kiran Mishra on NUA KHAI while Dr. JK Patnaik & Dr. P K Parida look on.
